The Feed Effect: How Your Online World is Built for You

How much of your online world is actually shaped by you? And how much is being shaped for you?

During U.S. Media Literacy Week, NAMLE’s Youth Advisory Council will lead a high school class through The Feed Effect: How Your Online World Is Built for You, an interactive exploration of how our online behavior, data, algorithms, and personalized feeds are all connected.

Led by students, for students, this session will help participants think more critically about their digital experiences, ask better questions about how their feeds are built, and consider how they can make more informed choices about the media they encounter online.

2022 MLW Kickoff Event: What’s Next for the News: Imagining the Future of Journalism with the Next Generation

The National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) will host the kickoff event for the 8th annual U.S. Media Literacy Week at Twitter’s NYC headquarters for an important discussion about the future of news and journalism with New York City area students. This live event will feature a panel discussion with PBS NewsHour’s Hari Sreenivasan and breakout sessions with NAMLE and Twitter employees to explore how youth envision what comes next for news and journalism. Discussion will explore topics such as freedom of speech, equity, inclusion, and content creation. Bring your students so they can share their voice and help envision their future.
