Penn State’s annual event for Media Literacy Week is done in partnership with the National Association for Media Literacy Education, the News Literacy Project, and MediaWise from Poynter. This day of programming for students will focus on the importance of evaluating the media we all consume carefully toward fighting disinformation and misinformation in the news.
This three hour event for high school students will focus on what students should know about artificial intelligence, how artificial intelligence is impacting news today, and what the future holds for the news industry as advanced technology creates both opportunities and challenges. And because this is Media Literacy Week, all the conversations will talk about how we, as news consumers and creators, should navigate the A.I. revolution.
This session for educators will focus on key strategies, questions, and inquiry activities for helping students dig deep into media messages. It will be live-streamed here.
Learn tools and techniques to thrive in a highly mediated, digital, and saturated world—especially as a presidential election season nears. We’ll discuss how political messaging works to impact us for better or worse, how journalism and other forms of media shape our understanding of elections and important civic issues, and how we can equip ourselves to better protect and engage in democracy.
This event will be live-streamed here.
