2024: The 10th Annual U.S. Media Literacy Week

Join us in making the 10th Annual U.S. Media Literacy Week the biggest celebration in support of media literacy education yet — October 21-25, 2024! Hosted by the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE), the mission is to highlight the power of media literacy education and its essential role in education all across the country. U.S. Media Literacy Week calls attention to media literacy education by bringing together hundreds of partners for events and activities around the country.

Media Literacy Tips for Parents

During U.S. Media Literacy Week 2022, the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) came out with 5 resources for parents in partnership with Meta. These resources cover topics including: connections you might make, media messages teens might see, people teens might meet, terms you might hear, and questions you might ask. They are available to download for free on Meta’s Family Center Education Hub here.

Core Principles of Media Literacy Education

The Core Principles articulate the National Association for Media Literacy Education’s (NAMLE) position on media literacy education and illuminate the complex dynamics between individuals, media, and the systems and structures that shape our world. The additional Implications for Practice, which are available to view under each principle, highlight distinguishing features of effective media literacy education. NAMLE’s intent is these Core Principles and Implications for Practice build greater awareness and help scale media literacy education in all facets of life in the U.S.
